Homeschool Students

The Strong offers homeschooled students entertaining and unforgettable educational opportunities set amid dynamic, interactive exhibit spaces.

Homeschool Lessons

Homeschooled students and their adults benefit from engaging lessons aligned with state and national academic standards.

Cost: $10 per student. Additional students (ages two to 15) are $10; children under age two are free. Adults in excess of the 1:1 student-to-adult ratio pay full admission. Reservations are required. Space is limited so register early.

In addition to the special lessons listed below, homeschooling families may register for lessons for school groups. These lessons require a group of at least 10 students. Museum educators will adapt educational lessons to suit homeschooled student needs. For more information, please call 585-263-2700.

Theme Days

Theme Days give homeschooled students, as well as school groups, an opportunity to experience the museum in new ways. An orientation and activity guide are included with Theme Day registration.

Check-in is at 10 a.m. and orientation is at 10:15 a.m. Activities end by 2 p.m.

Life Science Theme Day

Explore the wonders of life science through engaging hands-on activities throughout the museum. Observe plants and animals and develop questions and theories about living things. Using non-fiction texts as inspiration, learn how to record observations with drawings and labels. Stroll through the museum’s outdoor Discovery Garden or add a Dancing Wings Butterfly Garden tour. (Butterfly garden tours are additional per person.)
